Our Statement on Quality


The concern of our customers regarding Quality issues in all phases of their supply chain has grown tremendously over the past several years. However, it has been a primary issue for House of Threads since our beginning in September of 1963. House of Threads had "J.I.T." programs and formal written quality assurance procedures in place long before it became a popular discussion topic. The trigger for this concern was the result of the sale and use of counterfeit and miss-marked fasteners in the US. This issue resulted in the passage of the Fastener Quality Act (FQA, Public Law 101.592).

An internal decision to pursue ISO registration / certification came as a result of our commitment to continuously improve the processes within our distribution supply system, as well as, achieve our goal of meeting and exceeding the expectations of our many large OEM customers. In keeping with these commitments, we decided to pursue formal certification, even though we felt our Quality system was fully compliant and many of our customers were not requiring us to be certified. We were initially audited May 28th and 29th, 2001. As a result, we were certified to ISO 9002 with no required changes to our procedures or our Quality System. The scope of the audit and what is recorded on the certificate is: "The Distribution of Fasteners and Vendor Managed Inventory Systems". This system has been re-audited without any required corrections or non-conformances. We recently upgraded our Quality System to be fully compliant to the most recent ISO standard, ISO 9001: 2008, which prescribes the "how to" and the minimum requirements for each Quality element. We were formally audited September, 10th, 11th of 2003, and were approved on the first audit without any required changes to our system. Once again, the scope of the audit and what is recorded on the certificate is, "The Distribution of Fasteners and Vendor Managed Inventory Systems".  Currently, only the Birmingham location is ISO registered.  Our certificate, #11326 is  valid through September 14, 2018, and is available as a downloadable file below.
